Prison Warder, Frank Obi Sentenced To 10 Years Imprisonment For Selling Cannabis To Kirikiri Inmates

A Federal High Court Judge in Lagos, yesterday, sentenced a 31-year-old warder, Frank
Obi, to 10 years imprisonment, for drug trafficking.
The judge sentenced the convict, based on his guilty plea to a one-count charge of
supplying restricted narcotics to inmates
at the Kirikiri maximum prisons, Lagos.
Justice Buba in his judgment, reprimanded the convict for being a shame to lawful
authorities, and accordingly, sentenced him.
”Following the guilty plea entered by the accused, he is hereby convicted as charged,
and accordingly, sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, without option of fine” he said.
The judge said that it was indeed very shameful, that a prison official who knows the
values of the prison system, and ought to be a custodian of the law, is now the
perpetuator of crime.
He added that the sentence shall take effect from May 6, when the convict was arrested,
while the convict is to be jailed at the Ikoyi Prisons.
